Colour : Intense ruby with garnet highlights.

Nose : Complex, elegant aromas of ripe black cherry, plum, liquorice and tobacco. Notes of truffle, dried flowers and cedarwood complete the bouquet.

Food Pairings : Excellent with mature cheeses and red meat.

Gaja is an Italian wine producer from the Piemonte region in the district of Langhe, chiefly producing a number of Barbaresco and Barolo wines, and later diversified into Brunello and "Super-Tuscan" production. Its current owner and president Angelo Gaja is credited with developing techniques that have revolutionised winemaking in Italy, and terms such as "the undisputed king of Barbaresco", and "the man who dragged Piedmont into the modern world" have been applied to him, and whose Barbaresco wine is considered a status symbol on a par with Château Lafite-Rothschild or Krug.

The Gaja winery was founded in 1859 by Giovanni Gaja, the Gaja family having arrived from Spain during the 17th century. The family Gaja opened a tavern in Barbaresco, serving its wines with the food. At the end of the 19th century, Gaja wines were bottled and supplied to the Italian army in Abyssinia.

In 1937, Giovanni Gaja, grandson of the founder, first put the name Gaja in big red letters on his bottles' labels. The firm progressed following World War II as Giovanni Gaja made a significant series of vineyard purchases in terms of scale and vineyard quality. Also cited as an important influence to the firm's early success is the mother of Giovanni Gaja, Clotilda Rey, who instilled the principles of working to achieve high quality to attract the desired clientele, and set high prices to manifest the prestige of the product.

L’article Angelo Gaja Barbaresco Costa Russi 2006 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

The Roberto Voerzio estate is a winery located in the Piedmont region of Italy. Founded by Roberto Voerzio himself, the estate is renowned for producing some of the region's most prestigious and sought-after wines.

Roberto Voerzio was born in 1960 in La Morra, Piedmont. He began his career in the wine world working alongside his father in the family vineyards. From the outset, Roberto Voerzio adopted a very meticulous and passionate approach to viticulture, seeking to produce wines of the highest possible quality. In the 1980s, Roberto Voerzio decided to set up his own estate in order to put his innovative ideas and techniques into practice. He acquired vineyard plots in La Morra and Barolo, two areas renowned for producing top-quality wines in Piedmont. One of the distinguishing features of the Roberto Voerzio estate is its relatively small size. Roberto has chosen to deliberately limit his production in order to concentrate on quality rather than quantity. He cultivates his vines using biodynamic methods, respecting natural cycles and avoiding the use of chemicals.

The wines produced by the Roberto Voerzio estate are mainly made from Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto, the emblematic varieties of Piedmont. Voerzio wines are renowned for their concentration, aromatic complexity and exceptional ageing potential. They often express aromas of ripe red fruit, flowers, spices and truffles. Over the years, Roberto Voerzio's wines have gained international recognition and are much sought after by wine lovers and collectors around the world. They are produced in limited quantities and often command high prices on the market.

The Roberto Voerzio estate was managed by Roberto himself until 2008, when he decided to retire from operational management. Today, his sons Davide and Gianni continue his legacy, running the estate with the same passion and dedication.

L’article Roberto Voerzio barolo rocche dell’annunziata torriglione 2004 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

The traditionalist. This is how Bruno Giacosa was always respectfully called, because he refused to vinify Barbaresco and Barolo in barrels and always aged his wines in large wooden casks. Although this label was actually a bit unfair, as Bruno Giacosa was always open to new methods and had close contacts with the "modernists" like Angelo Gaja, Elio Altare and the other "Barolo boys". Without him, the meteoric rise of the Piedmont region would probably not have been possible.

L’article Bruno Giacosa, Barolo, Falletto di Serralunga 2004 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

Giacomo Conterno Giacomo Conterno is one of the most important names on the Piedmontese wine scene: the company is now recognised worldwide for its history and for the production of two oenological monuments such as Barolo Riserva Monfortino and Barolo Cascina Francia.

Barolo Riserva Monfortino is a red wine from the lands of Piedmont and in particular from Monforte d'Alba. It has been awarded for several years of production as a wine of excellence and several times with 100 points from Robert Parker. It is made only in exceptional vintages, the careful selection of the grapes and the treatment that each bunch of Nebbiolo receives makes it a fine and expensive wine.

L’article Giacomo Conterno Barolo Monfortino Riserva 2006 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

The word "Vign'Angena" in Gallurian dialect, from Sardinia, means "other people's or foreign vine": this name was chosen because initially it was a product with grapes coming from managed vineyards, which today, are theirs. The Arzachena company is expanding, but maintains limited quantities and a certain artisanal dimension as values of its production philosophy. Moreover, it is thanks to this company, perfectly managed by the Ragnedda brothers, that the Vermentino di Gallura has been valued and codified as a significant and appreciated white wine in the island.

Pale straw yellow and very clear, the Vermentino DOCG di Capichera shows a certain personality and character, without yielding to excesses of aroma and structure. It is a characteristic true Vermentino that expresses a rich and complex bouquet of hawthorn, iris, juniper, jasmine and orange flower. Its mineral character provides a continuous contrast to the floral and fruity range, rounded off by scents of pear and peach.

The wine is fresh, full-bodied, complex and enveloping, vertical and lively in its beautiful sapidity. It has a good body and a delicious, fruity finish. Perfect at any time, starting with the aperitif for the most demanding palates. It goes splendidly with any fish preparation and stands out with shellfish but also with rich dishes such as the classic malloreddus.

L’article Capichera Azienda Vitivinicola: Capichera Vermentino 2018 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

Gaja Langhe Gaia & Rey 2013 is a beautifully pure Piedmontese expression of Chardonnay. It opens with a light gold/straw colour with a brilliant luminosity. This vintage is delicate but determined, powerful but fragile at the same time. The bouquet is shy at first and requires (at a young stage when I tasted the wine) enough time to air out. Once relaxed, the wine offers fresh citrus, orchard fruit, roasted almonds and spices.

L’article Gaja: Langhe Chardonnay Gaia & Rey 2013 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.
