Colour : Transparent.

Nose : A great finesse, but also a beautiful complexity. The harmony of the zesty notes of bitter orange combined with the freshness of lemon and vegetal notes. Finally, fruity, round and sweet notes with a candied tendency, as well as sweet orange.

Palate : A nice density, a smooth and sweet flavour, quickly balanced by the strength of the alcohol, a touch of acidity and a slight bitterness. A wonderful balance of sweet and bitter fragrances from the orange peel for a pleasantly fresh sensation.

Pairings : In cocktails, Cointreau acts as a flavour enhancer; it highlights the other ingredients while bringing balance, depth and freshness to the mix.

Adolphe and Édouard-Jean Cointreau founded the distillery that bears their name in Angers in 1849. In 1875, Édouard created a "triple sec" liqueur based on orange peel, characterised by a new distillation process and patented bottle shapes. Cointreau was the first registered trademark for triple sec, in 1885, at the Commercial Court in Angers. The success of the company continued to develop: a shop on the Champs-Élysées, exports to the United States, a new distillery in Saint-Barthélemy-d'Anjou in 1969, and a merger with Rémy Martin cognacs in 1989. The Anjou recipe for triple sec invented by Édouard-Jean remains a secret. The peels of bitter and sweet oranges are dried for a long time before being macerated in eau de vie. The triple sec is distilled three times in copper stills. Its alcohol content is 40°C. The crystalline clarity of the liqueur is striking.

L’article Cointreau est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

Nose : Un arôme complexe de chocolat avec des notes de vanille exotique et l'arôme doux du whisky irlandais.

Palate : Silky smooth mouth feels from the fresh cream and a warming sensation coming from the Irish whiskey, creamy chocolaty finish.

Pairings : Straight and over ice, or add it to coffees, shooters or martinis. You can even enjoy some in a hot chocolate on colder days, or in a milkshake during the summer.
