Château La Lagune is located in the Haut-Médoc region of Bordeaux. The first traces of Château La Lagune date back to the 18th century. At that time, the property was already being used for wine production, but it was only later that it gained renown.

Château La Lagune was included in the official classification of Bordeaux wines drawn up for the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1855. It was awarded the status of 3rd Grand Cru Classé, a recognition that underlined the exceptional quality of its wines. The estate underwent several changes of ownership during the 20th century. In 1956, René Chayoux acquired the estate and undertook major investments to modernise the winemaking facilities and vineyards. In 2000, Caroline Frey and her family bought Château La Lagune. Caroline Frey, a passionate oenologist, has continued to modernise viticultural practices and maintain the estate's reputation for excellence.

Today, Château La Lagune covers an area of around 80 hectares, much of which is planted with noble grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. The vines benefit from an exceptional terroir, with gravelly soils and favourable exposure. Château La Lagune wines are renowned for their elegance, structure and ageing potential. They embody the tradition and savoir-faire of the Haut-Médoc region, while continuing to evolve under the guidance of dedicated owners like Caroline Frey.

L’article Château La Lagune 3ème Grand Cru Classé 2015 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

The history of Château Beychevelle dates back to the 16th century. The estate was originally called "Maison Noble de Beychevelle" and was owned by the Ducs d'Epernon, a powerful French noble family. Situated on the banks of the Gironde, the château enjoys a privileged location in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation, in the Médoc wine-growing region of Bordeaux. The name "Beychevelle" originates from a Gascon expression meaning "sail-lowering", referring to a tradition whereby ships had to lower their sails in front of the château as they passed it on the Gironde estuary.

Over the centuries, ownership of the château changed hands several times. In 1755, the estate was acquired by the Famille-François de Fumel family, who played a major role in the development and renown of the château. Under their management, the château and its vineyards were extended and improved, and the quality of the wines produced was considerably enhanced. In 1826, the château was sold to the Achille-Fould family, who held it until 1868, when it was bought by a consortium of Bordeaux wine merchants led by the Castéja family. The Castéja family still own the château today. Over the last few decades, Château Beychevelle has invested heavily in modernising its winemaking and ageing facilities, while preserving the traditional methods of Bordeaux wine production. The estate now boasts well-maintained vineyards covering around 90 hectares, planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grapes.

Today, Château Beychevelle is recognised worldwide for the quality of its wines. It is classified as a Fourth Growth in the official 1855 classification of Bordeaux wines. Château Beychevelle wines are renowned for their elegance, balance and ability to age well.

L’article Château Beychevelle Saint Julien 4ème Grand Cru Classé 1988 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

Château Lagrange is a wine estate located in the Saint-Julien appellation, one of the most prestigious appellations in the Médoc, in the Bordeaux wine region of France. Its history goes back several centuries. The first traces of a vineyard at Lagrange date back to the Middle Ages. In the 17th century, the estate belonged to the de Gorce noble family of Saint-Julien. The château was built during this period, and the estate was extended through the acquisition of additional plots. In 1824, the château was bought by the Baron de Brane, owner of the prestigious Château Brane-Cantenac, also in Saint-Julien. Baron de Brane invested heavily to modernise the facilities and improve the quality of the wines produced at Lagrange. In 1842, the château was sold to the Cendoya family, of Basque origin. They continued to modernise and improve the estate. The vineyard was extended and restructured, and the buildings were renovated.

In 1983, the château was acquired by the Japanese company Suntory, becoming the first French wine estate to be bought by a foreign company. Suntory invested heavily in the estate, modernising the equipment and renewing the vines. They also hired oenologist Marcel Ducasse to oversee the vinification process. In 2005, Suntory sold Château Lagrange to the French spirits company La Maison les Domaines Delon, owned by the Delon family. The Delon family also owns Château Léoville-Las Cases, another Saint-Julien Grand Cru Classé. This acquisition enabled synergy between the two estates and more harmonious management of the vineyards. Since then, the Delon family has continued to manage Château Lagrange successfully. The vineyard covers around 118 hectares and is planted mainly with traditional Bordeaux grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Château Lagrange produces wines renowned for their power, elegance and ability to age well.

Today, Château Lagrange is classified as a third growth in the official Bordeaux wine classification of 1855, testifying to its quality and reputation within the Saint-Julien appellation.

L’article Château Lagrange Saint julien 3ème Grand Cru Classé 1990 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

The Milhard-Bessard family perpetuates the viticultural traditions of the Grand Saint-Emilionnais by offering an authentic organic wine. The fruit of ancestral know-how, Château Vieux Mougnac is much more than just a wine, it is a heritage, a know-how and values that have been passed on since 1870. Indeed, for 5 generations, the vines have been cultivated in an organic way with the great principles of biodynamics. From this passion for nature comes an authentic, rare, unique wine, a Grand Vin de Garde served on the finest tables in France and abroad!

Sylvie Milhard, the 4th generation, first worked as an accountant in the Libourne region before continuing her parents' work.
Born in the midst of the boom in intensive agriculture, she quickly realised that her family's estate was one of the few in the region not to follow the path of globalisation. In order to preserve this know-how and philosophy, Sylvie took over Château Vieux Mougnac in 1991.
For her, this estate is much more than just a vineyard, it is a heritage that must be preserved and passed on to future generations.

The particularity of Château Vieux Mougnac is to market old vintages; wines ready to drink.

L’article Château Vieux Mougnac Cuvée Jérémie 2012 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

On the site known as Roc Blancan, literally the "white rock", the Ausone estate is anchored on the hillside. A mineral theatre slowly sculpted by man: for two millennia, life, like the vine, has chosen the stone to settle. The rock, however, offers much more than a setting for the wine: it is an intimate part of it. In its limestone, the vines take root. In its underground quarries, converted into cellars since the 18th century, the barrels wait. Between silence and darkness, the hygrometry and thermal inertia culminate and offer unique conditions for maturing.

The château distributes its seven hectares of vines in small terraces. Surrounded by stone, the plots are sheltered from the wind and enjoy a perfect east-south-east exposure. The Vauthier family has watched over the vineyard since 1690, with an unchanged passion for the land. Here, everyone gets their hands dirty in the cellars. Alain and his eldest daughter Pauline, the eleventh generation of winegrowers, make the wine today, faithful to the spirit of their forefathers.

L’article Château Ausone 1er Grand Cru Classé A 1996 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

Château Mouton Rothschild is a renowned Medoc wine estate located in the commune of Pauillac. It produces one of the most prestigious Bordeaux wines, in the Pauillac appellation. In 1973, although no modification was ever granted in the 1855 classification, Baron Philippe obtained - not without difficulty - the revision and Mouton officially joined the elite of the First Classified Growths of Bordeaux. When he died in 1988, his daughter Philippine took over the reins, assisted by an outstanding technical team, and successfully maintained her father's projects until his death in 2014. Today, his three children Camille Sereys de Rothschild, Philippe Sereys de Rothschild and Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild manage the estate together. Originally named "Château Mouton", it has been owned by the English branch of the Rothschild family since 1853. Every year since 1945, the label has been illustrated by a famous artist (including Chagall, Miro, Picasso...).

Château Lafleur Château Lafleur is a Bordeaux wine from the Pomerol appellation. The estate is located on the right bank of the Bordeaux vineyards, in the commune of Pomerol in the Gironde department. Like all the wines produced in this appellation, Château Lafleur is not classified, but the estate is esteemed among the great wines of the region. Among the rarest and most expensive wines, the wine is widely cited as one of the best in the world. Located near Chateau Petrus, this small estate shares a history with the property across the street, Chateau Le Gay. Both were part of the Le Manoir de Gay estate in the mid-18th century and were purchased by the Greloud family and divided between the sons into two estates, with the Domaine de Lafleur section eventually inherited by André Robin who put his own personal stamp on Lafleur. The vineyard consists of 4 hectares with the grape varieties 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc. The annual production is on average 1,000 cases.

L’article Château Lafleur 1995 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

The history of Petrus is closely linked to that of its famous vineyard in the Pomerol region of Bordeaux, France. Petrus is considered to be one of the most prestigious and expensive wines in the world. The origins of Petrus date back to Roman times, when the Pomerol region was already known for its wine production. However, Petrus did not always have the reputation it has today. In the 18th century, the estate belonged to the Arnaud family and was known as "Château de Petrus". At the time, the wine produced at Petrus was not particularly prized and had not acquired the reputation it has today. In 1925, the Libourne family, owners of the famous wine merchant Libourne Frères, bought the Petrus estate. It was then that the destiny of the vineyard began to change. Jean-Pierre Moueix, a member of the Libourne family, took over the management of Petrus in the 1940s. He was convinced of the vineyard's extraordinary potential and decided to transform it into an exceptional wine.

Jean-Pierre Moueix made significant changes to the production of Petrus. He reduced the size of the vineyard and introduced rigorous grape selection. He also introduced technical innovations, notably the use of stainless steel vats for fermentation, which improved the quality of the wine produced. The turning point for Petrus came in 1947, when the wine won international recognition at a tasting in Brussels. Since then, Petrus has become synonymous with excellence and prestige in the world of wine. Despite its worldwide renown, Petrus remains a relatively small estate with limited production. The vines cover around 11.5 hectares and are mainly planted with Merlot, a grape variety that thrives in the clay soil of Pomerol. The estate does not produce a second wine, which means that all the grapes harvested are used to produce Petrus itself.

Today, Petrus is still run by the Moueix family. Jean-François Moueix, son of Jean-Pierre, and his team continue the legacy of quality and excellence established by their predecessor. Each vintage of Petrus is eagerly awaited by collectors and wine lovers the world over, and it remains one of the most sought-after wines on the market, with prices that reflect its iconic status.

L’article Petrus 1995 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.
