The beautiful story of the Domaine Jacques Prieur began on 24 February 1868 with the marriage, in Bligny-les-Beaune, of Claude Duvergey (22 years old) and Marie Taboureau (19 years old).
In 1879, Claude Duvergey acquired the "Herbeux" property in Meursault, which is now the heart of the Domaine Jacques Prieur... and began to acquire vineyard land. He then took a risky gamble with the arrival of the terrible phylloxera in the Côte d'Or. However, with the appearance of the remedy in 1886 (American plants), his choices made him a visionary.
The development of the estate continued with the famous Clos de Mazeray Monopole located at the southern entrance to the village of Meursault. In 1890 he became the sole owner of the prestigious Clos des Santenots in Volnay,
In 1924, Jacques Prieur and Count Jules Lafon instituted the famous "Paulée de Meursault" to celebrate the end of a harvest with all the Meursault winegrowers.
In 1988, in order to prevent the estate from fleeing to foreign shareholders, five large families joined forces, including the Labruyère family, entrepreneurs and winegrowers from Mâcon.
Today, at the head of this jewel of Burgundy, the Labruyère family, supported by the heirs of the Prieur family, defends the colours of the great terroirs of Burgundy every day, throughout the world.
