]]> The Domaine des Comtes Lafon is one of the most renowned estates in Burgundy, France. It was founded by Jules Lafon in the early 20th century. Jules Lafon was a visionary winegrower who acquired parcels of vines in the best terroirs of the Côte de Beaune. Over the years, Jules Lafon and his son, René Lafon, worked hard to develop the estate and improve the quality of their wines. They have adopted traditional viticultural practices and were among the first to implement biodynamic viticulture techniques in Burgundy.

The estate has vineyards in several prestigious appellations, including Meursault, Volnay and Montrachet. These vineyards benefit from limestone and clay soils, as well as an ideal climate for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. René Lafon's work was continued by Dominique Lafon, his son, who took over the estate in the 1980s. Food Pairings : Fish in creamy sauce, Turbot with mustard, Skate with black butter. But also with blue cheese, stilton, Roquefort

]]> Pierre and Henri Lafon's interest in their father's estate was modest. After Pierre's untimely death in 1944, Henri clearly undertook to sell the estate. René Lafon, Pierre's son, although working and living in Paris at the time, opposed this move. During this uncertain period for the future of the estate, the vineyard was mainly run on a sharecropping basis. After his decisive intervention to avoid the dismemberment of the vines, René Lafon took over the estate in 1956. In collaboration with the sharecroppers, he undertook the restoration of the vines and carried out major replanting. Gradually, more and more of the harvest was bottled, until all of it was bottled in 1961. His interest in vines and wine led him to leave Paris in 1967 and settle permanently in Meursault, in the Victorian building that he still occupies today with his wife. Dominique Lafon took over from his father in 1984, initially with his brother Bruno. From 1987 onwards, he began to gradually break the sharecropping contracts (9-year leases). He is a winegrower of principles, fundamentally attached to the land, to quality and respect for the soil, but also to the traditions inherited from his ancestors. He wanted to go organic very early on, quickly giving up weed killers and choosing to return to working the soil, which is essential for the expression of the terroirs. Dominique Lafon is even one of the forerunners of biodynamic viticulture in Burgundy, since he chose to make his first trials in 1995 before converting all of his 16 hectares to biodynamic viticulture in 1998.
