Its history dates back to the 17th century, when the estate was known as Domaine de La Mission. In 1664, the property was acquired by the Lazarist Fathers, a Catholic congregation, who used it as a place of spiritual retreat and as a vineyard.

The estate is located in the Pessac-Léognan region, within the Graves appellation, renowned for its high-quality red and white wines. Mission Haut-Brion is a neighbour of the famous Château Haut-Brion, with which it shares a closely linked history. Over the centuries, the estate has changed hands several times, but its commitment to quality and excellence has never wavered. Successive owners have helped to enhance the reputation and renown of La Mission Haut-Brion wines.

In 1983, the Dillon family, also owners of Château Haut-Brion, acquired La Mission Haut-Brion, bringing the two historic estates under one management. This union strengthened La Mission Haut-Brion's position among the great growths of Bordeaux. Since then, the estate has continued to produce exceptional wines, both reds and whites, that are sought after by connoisseurs the world over. La Mission Haut-Brion is renowned for its distinctive style, characterised by elegance, finesse and the ability to age well in bottle.

The Roberto Voerzio estate is a winery located in the Piedmont region of Italy. Founded by Roberto Voerzio himself, the estate is renowned for producing some of the region's most prestigious and sought-after wines.

Roberto Voerzio was born in 1960 in La Morra, Piedmont. He began his career in the wine world working alongside his father in the family vineyards. From the outset, Roberto Voerzio adopted a very meticulous and passionate approach to viticulture, seeking to produce wines of the highest possible quality. In the 1980s, Roberto Voerzio decided to set up his own estate in order to put his innovative ideas and techniques into practice. He acquired vineyard plots in La Morra and Barolo, two areas renowned for producing top-quality wines in Piedmont. One of the distinguishing features of the Roberto Voerzio estate is its relatively small size. Roberto has chosen to deliberately limit his production in order to concentrate on quality rather than quantity. He cultivates his vines using biodynamic methods, respecting natural cycles and avoiding the use of chemicals.

The wines produced by the Roberto Voerzio estate are mainly made from Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto, the emblematic varieties of Piedmont. Voerzio wines are renowned for their concentration, aromatic complexity and exceptional ageing potential. They often express aromas of ripe red fruit, flowers, spices and truffles. Over the years, Roberto Voerzio's wines have gained international recognition and are much sought after by wine lovers and collectors around the world. They are produced in limited quantities and often command high prices on the market.

The Roberto Voerzio estate was managed by Roberto himself until 2008, when he decided to retire from operational management. Today, his sons Davide and Gianni continue his legacy, running the estate with the same passion and dedication.

L’article Roberto Voerzio barolo rocche dell’annunziata torriglione 2004 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, also known as Pichon Lalande, is an iconic wine estate in the Pauillac appellation on the left bank of the Bordeaux region of France. Its history dates back to the 17th century. The estate was created by Pierre de Mazure de Rauzan in the early 18th century, when he acquired part of the vast Rauzan vineyard in Pauillac. At the time, it was known as Château Pichon Longueville. The vineyard grew over the years, thanks in particular to the acquisition of adjacent land. In 1850, the de Pichon Longueville family inherited the estate and, through the marriage of Sophie de Pichon Longueville to Count Henri de Lalande, the name was changed to Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. The estate has known periods of glory and decline throughout its history. In the 19th century, it was renowned for producing wines of exceptional quality, and was often ranked among the top Bordeaux crus. During the phylloxera crisis at the end of the 19th century, the estate was forced to reduce its surface area and suffered economic difficulties.

However, from the mid-twentieth century onwards, Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande enjoyed a renaissance thanks to passionate and determined owners. In 1978, the de Lencquesaing family took over the reins of the estate and undertook major investments to restore the vines, modernise the facilities and improve the quality of the wines. Under the leadership of May-Éliane de Lencquesaing, the estate has become world-renowned for its exceptional wines. Pichon Lalande wines are distinguished by their elegance, complexity and ability to age gracefully.

In 2007, the Rouzaud family, owners of the Louis Roederer champagne house, acquired Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. They have continued to invest in the estate and preserve Pichon Lalande's tradition of excellence. Today, the estate covers around 85 hectares of vines, planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The château also produces a second wine called "Réserve de la Comtesse", as well as a white wine under the "Pauillac" appellation. Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande remains a symbol of Bordeaux excellence, combining tradition, history and expertise to produce top-quality wines that are appreciated by wine-lovers the world over.

L’article Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 2ème Grand Cru Classé 1989 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

The history of Petrus is closely linked to that of its famous vineyard in the Pomerol region of Bordeaux, France. Petrus is considered to be one of the most prestigious and expensive wines in the world. The origins of Petrus date back to Roman times, when the Pomerol region was already known for its wine production. However, Petrus did not always have the reputation it has today. In the 18th century, the estate belonged to the Arnaud family and was known as "Château de Petrus". At the time, the wine produced at Petrus was not particularly prized and had not acquired the reputation it has today. In 1925, the Libourne family, owners of the famous wine merchant Libourne Frères, bought the Petrus estate. It was then that the destiny of the vineyard began to change. Jean-Pierre Moueix, a member of the Libourne family, took over the management of Petrus in the 1940s. He was convinced of the vineyard's extraordinary potential and decided to transform it into an exceptional wine.

Jean-Pierre Moueix made significant changes to the production of Petrus. He reduced the size of the vineyard and introduced rigorous grape selection. He also introduced technical innovations, notably the use of stainless steel vats for fermentation, which improved the quality of the wine produced. The turning point for Petrus came in 1947, when the wine won international recognition at a tasting in Brussels. Since then, Petrus has become synonymous with excellence and prestige in the world of wine. Despite its worldwide renown, Petrus remains a relatively small estate with limited production. The vines cover around 11.5 hectares and are mainly planted with Merlot, a grape variety that thrives in the clay soil of Pomerol. The estate does not produce a second wine, which means that all the grapes harvested are used to produce Petrus itself.

Today, Petrus is still run by the Moueix family. Jean-François Moueix, son of Jean-Pierre, and his team continue the legacy of quality and excellence established by their predecessor. Each vintage of Petrus is eagerly awaited by collectors and wine lovers the world over, and it remains one of the most sought-after wines on the market, with prices that reflect its iconic status.

L’article Petrus 1995 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

Gaja is an Italian wine producer from the Piemonte region in the district of Langhe, chiefly producing a number of Barbaresco and Barolo wines, and later diversified into Brunello and "Super-Tuscan" production. Its current owner and president Angelo Gaja is credited with developing techniques that have revolutionised winemaking in Italy, and terms such as "the undisputed king of Barbaresco", and "the man who dragged Piedmont into the modern world" have been applied to him, and whose Barbaresco wine is considered a status symbol on a par with Château Lafite-Rothschild or Krug.

The Gaja winery was founded in 1859 by Giovanni Gaja, the Gaja family having arrived from Spain during the 17th century. The family Gaja opened a tavern in Barbaresco, serving its wines with the food. At the end of the 19th century, Gaja wines were bottled and supplied to the Italian army in Abyssinia.

In 1937, Giovanni Gaja, grandson of the founder, first put the name Gaja in big red letters on his bottles' labels. The firm progressed following World War II as Giovanni Gaja made a significant series of vineyard purchases in terms of scale and vineyard quality. Also cited as an important influence to the firm's early success is the mother of Giovanni Gaja, Clotilda Rey, who instilled the principles of working to achieve high quality to attract the desired clientele, and set high prices to manifest the prestige of the product.

L’article Angelo Gaja Sperss Langhe Barolo 1996 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

Situated on the heights of the Saint-Emilion limestone plateau, Château Canon enjoys an exceptional location. Situated on the right bank of Bordeaux, the superb property takes its name from the famous sailor and privateer of the King, Jacques Kanon. In 1954, Château Canon was made a Premier Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Émilion.

Freshness, finesse and structure are all characteristics that Cabernet Franc brings to Château Canon wines. It gives subtle wines with a nice acidity. It gives them a nice aromatic length around varied and complex empyreumatic and mineral notes.

Subtle, refined, with fine and silky tannins, the Merlots give Château Canon suppleness, smoothness and charm.

L’article Château Canon Saint Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classé « B » 2018 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.
