Domaine de Marchandise, located in the Côtes de Provence appellation, has a rich history rooted in the region's winemaking tradition. Here's an overview of its history and development:

Domaine de Marchandise was founded several centuries ago, with its origins dating back to the Middle Ages. The first vineyards were planted by monks or local lords, as was often the case in this part of France. Over the centuries, the estate gradually expanded. The development of viticulture in Provence and improvements in farming techniques led to an expansion of the vineyards and an improvement in the quality of the wine produced.

The estate underwent significant modernisation during the 20th century. The owners invested in modern equipment, improved winemaking techniques and adopted more sustainable, environmentally-friendly viticultural practices. Thanks to these efforts, the Marchandise estate has gained recognition both locally and nationally. The wines produced here began to receive awards and praise from critics and wine lovers alike.

Today, Domaine de Marchandise produces a range of wines, mainly rosés, but also reds. The terroir of the region, characterised by its limestone soil and Mediterranean climate, plays a crucial role in the quality of the wines produced. The estate is committed to sustainable viticultural practices, including organic and biodynamic farming. This approach aims to preserve the environment while producing high-quality wines.

Domaine de Marchandise continues to embody the spirit and tradition of the Côtes de Provence, while innovating and adapting to the modern demands of viticulture and wine production.

L’article Domaine de Marchandise rouge 2022 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

Shafer Vineyards is an iconic winery located in the Napa Valley region of California, USA. Its history dates back to the 1970s, when John Shafer, a former advertising businessman in Chicago, decided to change his life and take up winegrowing. John Shafer and his family bought a property in the Stags Leap District in 1972. At the time, Stags Leap District was not as famous as other parts of Napa Valley, but Shafer saw the potential of this land to produce wines of exceptional quality.

The first vines were planted in 1973, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate began producing wine in 1978 with the release of its first vintage, Shafer Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 1978. This wine quickly attracted the attention of critics and wine lovers alike for its exceptional quality. Over the years, Shafer Vineyards has continued to build its reputation by producing world-class wines, notably its Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon, which has become one of the Napa Valley's iconic wines. The vineyard has also expanded over time, adding new plots and introducing new grape varieties. The Shafer family has always had a commitment to quality and innovation, and the estate has become a leader in the adoption of sustainable and environmentally-friendly viticultural techniques.

Today, Shafer Vineyards is one of the most respected wineries in the Napa Valley and continues to produce premium wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Stags Leap District.

Château La Lagune is located in the Haut-Médoc region of Bordeaux. The first traces of Château La Lagune date back to the 18th century. At that time, the property was already being used for wine production, but it was only later that it gained renown.

Château La Lagune was included in the official classification of Bordeaux wines drawn up for the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1855. It was awarded the status of 3rd Grand Cru Classé, a recognition that underlined the exceptional quality of its wines. The estate underwent several changes of ownership during the 20th century. In 1956, René Chayoux acquired the estate and undertook major investments to modernise the winemaking facilities and vineyards. In 2000, Caroline Frey and her family bought Château La Lagune. Caroline Frey, a passionate oenologist, has continued to modernise viticultural practices and maintain the estate's reputation for excellence.

Today, Château La Lagune covers an area of around 80 hectares, much of which is planted with noble grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. The vines benefit from an exceptional terroir, with gravelly soils and favourable exposure. Château La Lagune wines are renowned for their elegance, structure and ageing potential. They embody the tradition and savoir-faire of the Haut-Médoc region, while continuing to evolve under the guidance of dedicated owners like Caroline Frey.

L’article Château La Lagune 3ème Grand Cru Classé 2015 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

Domaine de Miraval is a wine estate located in Provence, in the south of France. The Miraval region was already used to grow vines in Roman times, dating back more than 2,000 years. Over the centuries, the estate passed through the hands of various noble families and local lords. It has continued to be used for wine production. The name "Miraval" comes from the Miraval family, who owned the estate from the 17th century onwards. In 1970, the estate was bought by the Perrin family, a well-known winemaking family in the region. The Perrin family also own the famous Château de Beaucastel, a renowned winery in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region.

In 2008, the Miraval estate became world-famous when Hollywood actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt bought it. The couple invested in modernising the vineyard and cellar, while continuing to produce quality wines. Miraval wines, particularly the rosé, quickly gained in popularity and international recognition. The estate has become synonymous with high-quality Provence wine. In 2016, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt announced their separation, but they remained owners of the Miraval estate. They continued to collaborate on the management of the estate and wine production despite their divorce.

In addition to wine production, Domaine de Miraval also offers luxury accommodation, including villas, which have attracted other celebrities and personalities from all over the world. The history of Domaine de Miraval is a fascinating example of how a traditional wine estate can evolve into a major player in the global wine industry while being associated with famous film personalities. Miraval wines are now considered to be among the finest in Provence.

L’article Domaine Miraval Studio By Miraval rosé 2022 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

Founded in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Burgundy, by Pierre Faiveley, this family-run wine merchant rapidly evolved into one of the region's most prestigious estates. Pierre Faiveley was a man of vision who developed the business by acquiring first-rate vineyards, particularly in the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. Over the generations, the Faiveley family has continued to develop the business and expand its winegrowing estate, acquiring renowned vineyards in various Burgundy appellations. Over the years, Domaine Joseph Faiveley has maintained a traditional approach to viticulture and winemaking, while incorporating modern techniques to preserve the quality and authenticity of its wines. They have also been careful to respect the specific characteristics of each terroir, enabling them to produce wines that faithfully reflect their origins. Today, the estate has a vast vineyard covering more than 120 hectares, some of which are classified as Grand Cru and Premier Cru, producing mainly Pinot Noir-based red wines, as well as Chardonnay-based white wines.

The Faiveley family has always been heavily involved in the management of the estate, preserving its heritage while constantly striving to improve the quality of its wines. The combination of a centuries-old winemaking tradition and a modern approach has enabled Domaine Joseph Faiveley to maintain its reputation for excellence over the decades. Today, the estate is run by the seventh generation of the Faiveley family, a testament to the family's commitment and passion for continuing the winemaking heritage and preserving the estate's reputation as a producer of high quality wines in Burgundy.

L’article Domaine Faiveley Les Charmes Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru 2017 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.
