Gaja Langhe Gaia & Rey 2013 is a beautifully pure Piedmontese expression of Chardonnay. It opens with a light gold/straw colour with a brilliant luminosity. This vintage is delicate but determined, powerful but fragile at the same time. The bouquet is shy at first and requires (at a young stage when I tasted the wine) enough time to air out. Once relaxed, the wine offers fresh citrus, orchard fruit, roasted almonds and spices.
