Colour: Golden yellow with bright highlights.

The history of Maison Louis Roederer dates back to 1776, when the champagne house was founded by Louis Roederer himself in Reims, France. In its early days, the company was primarily a wine merchant, but soon specialised in the production of high-quality sparkling wines. During the nineteenth century, Roederer grew considerably thanks to the efforts of Louis Roederer II, the founder's son. He was a visionary and a perfectionist, and did everything in his power to improve the quality and reputation of Roederer champagnes.vUnder the leadership of Louis Roederer II, the house concentrated on producing high-quality Champagne wines. He invested in vineyards, buying exceptional plots in the best terroirs of the Champagne region, notably in the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne. This gave him complete control of the production process, from vine to bottle.

One of the most significant moments in Roederer's history was when Tsar Alexander II of Russia asked Louis Roederer II to create a special cuvée for his imperial court. The champagne created, which later became the famous Cuvée Cristal, was presented in a transparent crystal bottle, so that the Tsar could see its contents and ensure that it contained no poison. This association with the Russian imperial court greatly contributed to Roederer's reputation at the time. Over the decades, Louis Roederer continued to innovate and develop. It remained a family business, passing from generation to generation. Today, the seventh generation of the Rouzaud family runs the business, carrying on the traditions and excellence inherited from Louis Roederer II.

Louis Roederer is recognised the world over for the exceptional quality of its champagnes. The house's emblematic cuvées include Cristal, Brut Premier and Rosé Vintage. Each wine is produced with care, using traditional techniques and respecting the terroirs of origin. The story of Louis Roederer is the story of a prestigious champagne house that has combined tradition and innovation to create some of the world's best-loved champagnes.

L’article Louis Roederer Cristal 2013 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

Domaine de Marchandise, located in the Côtes de Provence appellation, has a rich history rooted in the region's winemaking tradition. Here's an overview of its history and development:

Domaine de Marchandise was founded several centuries ago, with its origins dating back to the Middle Ages. The first vineyards were planted by monks or local lords, as was often the case in this part of France. Over the centuries, the estate gradually expanded. The development of viticulture in Provence and improvements in farming techniques led to an expansion of the vineyards and an improvement in the quality of the wine produced.

The estate underwent significant modernisation during the 20th century. The owners invested in modern equipment, improved winemaking techniques and adopted more sustainable, environmentally-friendly viticultural practices. Thanks to these efforts, the Marchandise estate has gained recognition both locally and nationally. The wines produced here began to receive awards and praise from critics and wine lovers alike.

Today, Domaine de Marchandise produces a range of wines, mainly rosés, but also reds. The terroir of the region, characterised by its limestone soil and Mediterranean climate, plays a crucial role in the quality of the wines produced. The estate is committed to sustainable viticultural practices, including organic and biodynamic farming. This approach aims to preserve the environment while producing high-quality wines.

Domaine de Marchandise continues to embody the spirit and tradition of the Côtes de Provence, while innovating and adapting to the modern demands of viticulture and wine production.

L’article Domaine de Marchandise rouge 2022 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.

Shafer Vineyards is an iconic winery located in the Napa Valley region of California, USA. Its history dates back to the 1970s, when John Shafer, a former advertising businessman in Chicago, decided to change his life and take up winegrowing. John Shafer and his family bought a property in the Stags Leap District in 1972. At the time, Stags Leap District was not as famous as other parts of Napa Valley, but Shafer saw the potential of this land to produce wines of exceptional quality.

The first vines were planted in 1973, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate began producing wine in 1978 with the release of its first vintage, Shafer Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 1978. This wine quickly attracted the attention of critics and wine lovers alike for its exceptional quality. Over the years, Shafer Vineyards has continued to build its reputation by producing world-class wines, notably its Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon, which has become one of the Napa Valley's iconic wines. The vineyard has also expanded over time, adding new plots and introducing new grape varieties. The Shafer family has always had a commitment to quality and innovation, and the estate has become a leader in the adoption of sustainable and environmentally-friendly viticultural techniques.

Today, Shafer Vineyards is one of the most respected wineries in the Napa Valley and continues to produce premium wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Stags Leap District. The Shafer family remains heavily involved in the management of the estate, carrying on the legacy and tradition established by John Shafer decades ago.

L’article Shafer Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon 1997 est apparu en premier sur Riviera Cellars Wine Supply French Riviera.
